Godavari Declaration to be unveiled on World Tourism Day in Rajamahendravaram

The Godavari Declaration will be unveiled during World Tourism Day celebrations in Rajamahendravaram on Sunday, Minister for Culture and Tourism Kandula Durgesh said on Saturday. The event has been titled 'The Godavari Calls'.

According to the Minister, the declaration is intended to promote tourism, explore the tourism potential of the region and make use of digital transformation in tourism promotion and services.

Boating services between Kakinada and Hope Island will also be resumed, with the government looking to tap the tourism potential of the Godavari mangroves off the Kakinada coast. The service to Hope Island had been suspended after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Separately, East Godavari District Joint Collector Y. Megha Swaroop, at a review meeting with hotel managements in Rajamahendravaram, directed hotels to reserve 60% of their rooms for VIPs and officials during the Godavari Pushkarams-2027.

Hotels will not be permitted to accept advance bookings for rooms for June and July next year, and the government will announce room tariffs shortly, the Joint Collector said. A special committee comprising hotel representatives and officials will be set up to coordinate arrangements with the government during the Pushkarams.
