Goldy Brar Added to FBI's Ten Most Wanted List, $1 Million Reward Announced
Gangster Satinderjeet Singh, alias Goldy Brar, has been placed on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list with a $1 million reward for information leading to his arrest.
Canada-based gangster Satinderjeet Singh, better known as Goldy Brar, has been added to the FBI's list of Ten Most Wanted Fugitives, with the agency announcing a reward of up to $1 million for information leading to his capture. The FBI described him as armed, dangerous and an escape risk.
According to the agency, Brar is wanted for his alleged role in the Lawrence Bishnoi Organized Crime Group, which it says is involved in a range of violent acts across Southern California, the wider United States and Canada.
Who is Goldy Brar?
Born in 1994 in Punjab's Muktsar district, Brar moved to Canada in 2017 on a student visa. He is a fugitive in the United States and is described as the alleged North American leader of the Bishnoi organised crime group. The FBI bulletin lists several aliases, including Satinderjeet Singh Brar, Satinder Jeet and Satinder Jit Singh Brar.
In India, he is wanted for murder, drug trafficking and extortion, and is accused of masterminding the 2022 killing of Punjabi singer and politician Sidhu Moose Wala. He was declared a terrorist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in 2024. He also features on Canada's top 25 most wanted list, which carries a reward of $50,000 under its BOLO programme.
US charges and investigation
A federal arrest warrant was issued for Brar on July 1 by the United States District Court for the Central District of California. He faces charges of Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organisations (RICO) conspiracy, conspiracy to interfere with commerce by extortion, and conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute controlled substances.
He was identified as a fugitive following "Operation Hardball," a years-long federal investigation into India-based transnational organised crime groups. In July, US authorities announced charges against 37 defendants linked to three such groups, alleging that Brar helps direct the Bishnoi enterprise's members and associates worldwide.
International cooperation
Officials in the US, Canada, Europe and Asia are coordinating efforts to capture him. First Assistant US Attorney Bill Essayli said the administration is determined to bring the full force of the law upon transnational gangs. Lisa Moreland, deputy commissioner of federal policing for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, said Brar's network has caused devastating harm to countless lives and urged that no one should feel any loyalty toward him.
India connection
Brar claimed responsibility on behalf of the Bishnoi gang for the assassination of Sidhu Moose Wala on 29 May 2022. Earlier that month, a Faridkot court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against him in connection with the murder of District Youth Congress president Gurlal Singh Pehalwan.
Indian agencies allege that Brar works closely with pro-Khalistani extremists, including Babbar Khalsa International, and is backed by Pakistan's ISI. He is accused of using drones to smuggle arms and explosives across the border, funding radical activities and making threatening calls to pro-nationalist leaders. An Interpol Red Notice was issued against him in June 2022 at India's request, and the National Investigation Agency has filed chargesheets detailing how the gang's earnings from extortion and arms smuggling are routed through hawala networks to Canada. The NIA has announced a reward of ₹10 lakh for information on his whereabouts.
