Rohit Shetty Confirms Golmaal 5, Locks January 2027 Release

After months of speculation, Rohit Shetty has officially announced that a fifth Golmaal film is in the works. The filmmaker shared the news on September 19 through a motion poster that features Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor and the franchise's familiar ensemble, along with a locked release date.

The motion poster carries the series' signature whistle motif from its background score. In his post, Shetty wrote, "LAUGHTER, FUN, JOY, HAPPINESS AND FAMILY... BAS, NOTHING ELSE." A follow-up post confirmed that the film will arrive in theatres on January 8, 2027.

The announcement comes nine years after Golmaal Again, the fourth instalment. Shetty, who recently wrapped a stint as host of Khatron Ke Khiladi 15, is returning to one of his most popular franchises.

For fans, a key highlight is the return of the complete original gang, including Sharman Joshi, who was last part of the series in 2006. The reunion is expected to revive some of the franchise's best-known dynamics — the running rivalry between Ajay Devgn and Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor's signature "Ae ah oh" gag, and a fresh dimension in the chemistry shared by Shreyas Talpade, Kunal Kemmu and Sharman Joshi.

Details about the rest of the cast, including the leading lady or ladies, are being kept under wraps. Kareena Kapoor Khan remains the only actress to have appeared in two instalments, Golmaal 2 and Golmaal 3, as Ajay Devgn's love interest. Golmaal Again saw Tabu and Devgn reunite in a horror-comedy setting, and marked Parineeti Chopra's first film with Shetty.

Hints of a fifth instalment go back to 2018, when Arshad Warsi and his Golmaal co-stars appeared in the dance video for the remixed version of 'Aankh Maare' in Simmba. A step performed in that video was widely read by fans as a subtle nod to the franchise's future.

With the cast reunion confirmed and the release date set, anticipation around Golmaal 5 is expected to build in the months ahead.
