Goody King Magnetic Toy Sets Recalled in US After Children Need Surgery
US regulators recall 213,500 Goody King magnetic toys after two children required surgery for ingesting magnets.
U.S. regulators have announced a recall of approximately 213,500 units of "Goody King" magnetic building toys following reports that two children required surgery after swallowing magnets from the sets.
The recall was issued after it was found that the plastic building cubes in these toys can crack or come apart, releasing the powerful magnets inside. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), if these magnets are swallowed, they can attract one another or other metal objects inside the body, leading to serious internal injuries.
The agency warns that such incidents can result in intestinal perforations, twisting, or blockages, which may cause blood poisoning or even prove fatal.
The product's seller, Hong Kong-based Yi Suen Commerce, has confirmed it is aware of two cases where children ingested the magnets and needed surgical removal. The company has also received at least 27 reports of the cubes breaking or opening.
Consumers who own these toys are being urged to stop using them immediately. Yi Suen Commerce is offering full refunds to those who participate in the recall. The company will provide prepaid shipping labels, and refunds will be processed once the returned items are received. Purchase receipts are not required.
The affected toys were sold online via Amazon from January 2024 through July 2026. They were available in various themed sets for building 3D designs, including forests, dinosaurs, and unicorns. Set sizes ranged from 45 to 300 pieces, with prices between $17 and $50.
