Cyberabad civic body orders demolition of tilting four-storey building in Gopanapally

Cyberabad Municipal Corporation has begun demolishing an unsafe four-storey building in Gopanapally after it developed cracks and began to tilt.

The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) has set in motion the demolition of a four-storey building in Gopanapally after it was found to be tilting and unsafe, officials said.

The structure, located in NTR Colony, developed cracks and began to lean, with word of its condition spreading online on Friday evening. Civic officials inspected the building shortly after and flagged the risk it posed to life.

Following the inspection, the building was declared unsafe. As an immediate precaution, occupants were moved out and the area around the structure was cordoned off to keep residents and passers-by away from harm.

The building is a four-storey structure allegedly constructed on a 50-square-yard plot without the mandatory setbacks. Demolition work has been taken up as a precautionary measure to protect human life and property.

Authorities have urged citizens not to approach or enter the building while the operation is under way. The civic body said it would show no tolerance for unauthorised and illegal constructions that put public safety at risk.

The action is part of a continuing drive by the CMC against unsafe and illegal structures within its jurisdiction.
