Gorakhpur-Bandra Amrit Bharat Express to debut on August 28
Railways to launch weekly Amrit Bharat Express between Gorakhpur and Bandra from August 28, cutting travel time to 34 hours.
The Ministry of Railways will introduce a new weekly Amrit Bharat Express connecting Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh with Bandra Terminus in Maharashtra. The service, operated by the North Eastern Railway (NER) zone, will begin on August 28, with the return journey starting the following day.
The train, numbered 15085/15086, replaces the existing Trains on Demand (TOD) service 05053/05054 on the same route. It will be the second Amrit Bharat Express from Gorakhpur; the first, on the Gorakhpur-Delhi corridor, is scheduled to commence operations on August 27.
The 15085 Gorakhpur-Bandra service will depart every Friday at 7:50 AM, covering the distance in approximately 34 hours and 10 minutes. It will arrive at Bandra Terminus at 6:00 PM on Saturday. The return service, 15086, will leave Bandra every Saturday at 9:20 PM and reach Gorakhpur at 6:45 AM on Monday.
The train will halt at major stations including Basti, Gonda, Aishbagh, Kanpur Central, Agra Fort, Kota, Ratlam, Vadodara, Surat, Vapi, and Borivali, among others. It will operate at speeds between 110 and 130 kmph and will feature general unreserved and sleeper class coaches.
