Gowliguda Gurudwara Marks 100 Years with Mass Congregation in Hyderabad
Hyderabad's Central Gurudwara Sahib in Gowliguda celebrated its centenary with a mass congregation at Nampally, drawing thousands of devotees.
The historic Central Gurudwara Sahib in Gowliguda, Hyderabad, has completed 100 years, a milestone marked on Sunday, September 20, with a mass religious congregation at the Exhibition Grounds in Nampally.
Thousands of Sikh devotees, along with people from other communities, attended the event. The celebrations were organised by the Prabhandak Committee of Central Gurudwara Sahib Gowliguda, in association with Sikh Gurudwaras across Telangana.
Founded in 1926, the Gurudwara has spent a century engaged in religious, social and community service in the city.
The day's programme, a 'Vishaal Diwan' or mass congregation, included prayers before the Guru Granth Sahib, Gurbani Kirtans and religious discourses. The discourses centred on themes of equality, brotherhood, peace, national integration and communal harmony.
Among those present were Sant Baba Kulwant Singh, Jathedar of Takht Sachkhand Sri Hazur Abchalnagar Sahib in Nanded, Maharashtra; Sant Baba Balwinder Singh Ji of Hazur Sahib; and Harmeet Singh Kalka, president of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee.
S. Trilok Singh, president of the Central Gurudwara Sahib Gowliguda Prabhandak Committee, described the occasion as a coming together of the community. "The historic centenary celebrations are a celebration of faith, service and unity, bringing the entire community together," he said.
The congregation concluded with the serving of 'Guru-Ka-Langar', the traditional free community kitchen.
