Goyal holds bilateral trade talks with UAE, Indonesia on BRICS sidelines
Piyush Goyal met UAE and Indonesian trade ministers in Jaipur, reviewing CEPA momentum and AITIGA talks.
Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal held separate bilateral meetings with his counterparts from the UAE and Indonesia on the sidelines of the BRICS Trade and Industry Ministers' Meeting in Jaipur on Friday.
With UAE Minister of Foreign Trade Thani Al Zeyoudi, Goyal discussed ways to sustain the growth in bilateral trade and investment under the India-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). The agreement, effective since May 2022, has significantly boosted trade between the two nations, with the UAE being one of India's largest trading partners.
In a separate meeting with Indonesian Trade Minister Budi Santoso, Goyal reviewed the ongoing negotiations under the ASEAN-India Trade in Goods Agreement (AITIGA). The discussions focused on deepening bilateral economic engagement and building resilient supply chains. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to trade-led growth and stronger India-Indonesia economic cooperation.
The meetings took place as India holds the BRICS presidency in 2026, with Jaipur hosting the trade ministers' gathering.
