Goyal Projects Continued Growth for UP International Trade Show
Piyush Goyal said the fourth UP International Trade Show drew delegates from six partner countries and generated buyer-seller agreements worth over Rs 3,000 crore.
Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has said Uttar Pradesh is set to deepen its engagement with global markets, projecting that the UP International Trade Show (UPITS) will keep expanding in the years ahead.
Speaking at a special business session during the fourth edition of the event, Goyal said the fair had drawn delegates and exhibitors from six partner countries, with buyer-seller meetings producing agreements valued at more than Rs 3,000 crore.
He linked the state's rising profile to its growing presence in modern industries, listing defence, semiconductors, electronics and robotics among the sectors where Uttar Pradesh is building capacity. Industrial parks, airports and expressways, he said, form part of the infrastructure underpinning this economic expansion.
Goyal expressed confidence that the trade fair, which began on the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, would grow every year and show the world what the state is capable of. He described the state's transformation as a "bullet train" that had started moving and would continue at speed, creating a platform for further industrial and trade growth.
He added that Uttar Pradesh's expanding international engagement could connect its businesses and talent with markets abroad, and said the state was bringing new opportunities to the world.
The minister's remarks come amid a broader central push for exporters to make greater use of India's free trade agreements. The Commerce Ministry has recently emphasised the role of FTAs in widening global market access, drawing investment and supporting job creation.
At a stakeholder workshop earlier in the week, Goyal also called for stronger physical and digital export facilitation. A proposed Trade Connect platform is intended to offer product-wise information on tariffs, FTA opportunities and trade procedures.
