Warner Bros. Pushes 'Gremlins 3' Release to October 2028

Warner Bros. has pushed back the release of its upcoming horror-comedy 'Gremlins 3', moving the film from November 19, 2027, to October 6, 2028. The studio announced the change on its Instagram account on Wednesday, pairing the update with a short video that offered a glimpse of a Gremlin.

The project was first made public by David Zaslav, chief executive and president of Warner Bros. Discovery, during an investor call in 2025. Chris Columbus, known for directing the 'Harry Potter' films, is set to direct and produce, while Steven Spielberg returns as executive producer alongside Eleanor Columbus of Maiden Voyage.

Hannah Marks is writing the screenplay, working from an original draft by Chris Columbus, Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein. The film is being produced by Kristie Macosko Krieger and Holly Bario under the Amblin Entertainment banner, together with Michael Barnathan and Mark Radcliffe of 26th Street Pictures.

The studio has not yet revealed the film's official title, plot details or cast. The original 'Gremlins', directed by Joe Dante and released in 1984, is remembered as a horror-comedy about a young boy named Billy who befriends a small, furry creature called a Mogwai. The pet comes with two rules: it must never be exposed to water and must never be fed after midnight. When both rules are broken, the creature spawns a wave of gremlins that wreak havoc on Billy's town over the holiday season. The film is also noted for its role in the creation of the PG-13 rating.
