A team of forensic experts from Gujarat has departed for Nepal to assist in identifying victims of the recent floods that have struck the Himalayan nation. The mission is being carried out under the joint direction of India's Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Home Affairs, underscoring the bilateral cooperation in times of crisis.
The team's primary focus will be on implementing critical Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) protocols directly on the ground. DVI procedures are essential for systematically recovering and identifying human remains, providing closure to families and aiding official records.
This deployment reflects India's commitment to supporting neighbouring countries during natural disasters. The forensic experts will work alongside local authorities to apply internationally recognised identification standards, ensuring a dignified and accurate process.
