Guntur Neurosurgeon Makes Case for Minimally Invasive Brain Surgery

A Guntur neurosurgeon highlights a white matter-sparing technique for deep brain lesions, presented at the World Neurosciences Summit 2026.

A leading neurosurgeon from Guntur has underscored the importance of protecting healthy brain tissue during complex procedures. Dr. Mohana Rao Patibandla, founder of Dr. Rao's Hospital–International Institute of Neurosciences, spoke at a press conference on Saturday, August 29, 2026, about the goals of modern minimally invasive microsurgery.

Dr. Rao recently delivered a keynote lecture at the World Neurosciences Summit 2026 in New Delhi. His talk focused on a technique called Minimally Invasive Cylindrical Corridor Surgery, which is designed for accessing deep-seated brain lesions.

The method creates a surgical corridor that spares white matter, allowing surgeons to reach the lesion while preserving functional neural pathways. It relies on precise surgical planning and neuronavigation to minimise disruption to healthy brain structures.

According to Dr. Rao, this approach has an evolving role in carefully selected patients. The choice of surgical route is critical when the goal is to reduce damage to surrounding brain tissue.

The World Neurosciences Summit brought together experts in neurosurgery, neurology, and related fields from India and abroad. Discussions covered advances in brain, spine, and neurovascular surgery, as well as the use of artificial intelligence in neuroscience and emerging minimally invasive technologies.

Dr. Rao is a fellowship-trained neurosurgeon with international experience in specialised areas. He regularly serves as invited faculty at scientific conferences in India and overseas.
