Gurugram Hit-and-Run: Car Owner Says Friend Was at the Wheel

The owner of the car involved in a collision with a woman biker in Gurugram has said he was not behind the wheel at the time of the incident. The man, identified as Manish, stated that a friend had taken the vehicle from his family.

"I was not driving the car," Manish said, adding that he serves in the Army and is currently posted in Assam. According to him, his friend Kalyan borrowed the car on Sunday after his family handed over the keys. Manish said he came to know about the collision only after the video of the incident began circulating and he started receiving calls.

The vehicle, a Maruti Suzuki Ciaz bearing registration number HR30Y4949, is registered in Manish's name. He is a resident of Palwal in Haryana.

The woman biker, identified as Sia, was riding an Aprilia RS 457 when the car struck her motorcycle on Golf Course Road. The sequence was captured on an action camera mounted on her bike and later shared on Instagram.

In the video, Sia said the car came close to her and its occupants behaved aggressively. When she asked them to keep their distance, they allegedly told her to stop and appeared to be drunk, she said. She tried to keep moving so the car could not block her path, while a friend riding behind her attempted to shield her.

The car continued to follow her, Sia said, and the driver tried to cut in front of her motorcycle, striking the bike before fleeing. She alleged that a friend chased the car and confronted the driver when it stopped at a traffic signal, but he denied responsibility and drove away.

In her post, Sia said she felt unsafe on Gurugram roads and urged the police to act against drivers who endanger others and leave the scene after an accident.
