Two class VIII students of a Gurukul Patashala in Gyarampalle mandal of Annamayya district have been issued transfer certificates following allegations that they tried to harm a classmate while he was asleep in the hostel.
The matter came to light after the affected student approached the Mandal Education Department. He alleged that the two boys had pressed his neck with their feet during the incident. According to officials, he managed to break free and later informed the authorities about what had happened.
A departmental inquiry was conducted by Mandal Education Officer Reddy Basha on Wednesday. During the inquiry, the two students reportedly admitted to their involvement in the incident, which is said to have occurred a week earlier.
Officials said the boys told the inquiry team that they believed a death at the residential school would result in a one-day holiday.
As an interim measure, the education authorities issued transfer certificates to the two students and handed them over to their parents.
