Guwahati Reels Under Heavy Rain, Waterlogging Hits Multiple Areas

Heavy rain since Monday night has caused severe waterlogging across Guwahati, submerging low-lying areas and disrupting traffic and daily life.

Guwahati has been grappling with the effects of continuous heavy rainfall since Monday night, which has triggered severe waterlogging in several parts of the city. The downpour has submerged multiple low-lying neighbourhoods, bringing normal life to a standstill and severely hampering vehicular movement on key roads.

In the Barowari locality, the rain brought down a tree, which damaged a car and a scooter parked nearby. The fallen tree also blocked the road, adding to the traffic chaos in the area. Meanwhile, the Guwahati Club area witnessed massive water accumulation, with vehicles struggling to navigate through the flooded stretches. Commuters and pedestrians were seen wading through the water, facing considerable difficulty.

The situation has once again brought to the fore the city's persistent vulnerability to waterlogging during intense spells of rain. Residents have expressed frustration over the recurring problem and are urging authorities to take concrete steps to upgrade the drainage infrastructure to prevent such disruptions in the future.
