Guyanese woman found unconscious at Bengaluru airport hotel, declared dead

A Guyanese woman who had arrived in Bengaluru on a flight from London was found unconscious in a room at the transit hotel in Terminal 2 of Kempegowda International Airport and was later declared dead at a city hospital.

The passenger was identified as Racquel Olivia Chandni Seecharran. She landed at the airport on a Virgin Atlantic flight at about 6.10 p.m. on Tuesday and was booked to fly to Mangaluru on an IndiGo flight scheduled for 2.35 p.m. on Wednesday.

According to the Central Industrial Security Force, which guards the airport, the hotel receptionist tried to reach her by phone at around 10.30 a.m. on Wednesday as her check-out time drew near. When she neither answered the call nor responded, hotel staff went to the room in the transit hotel in the arrival city-side area of Terminal 2 and found her lying unconscious.

The airport medical team reached the room and gave her medical assistance before shifting her by ambulance to a nearby private hospital. A doctor examined her at about 12.22 p.m. and conducted an ECG. With no pulse detected, she was declared dead at around 1.08 p.m.

The matter was reported to the local police, who are carrying out medico-legal formalities and further inquiry. The circumstances leading to her death have not yet been established.
