Uttarakhand makes 'Hanuman Ansh' tax-free with SGST reimbursement
Uttarakhand has declared 'Hanuman Ansh', a film on Baba Neem Karoli, tax-free, reimbursing SGST on tickets so viewers bear no extra cost.
The Uttarakhand government has decided to grant tax-free status to 'Hanuman Ansh', a film based on the life of the spiritual figure Baba Neem Karoli.
Under the arrangement, the state will reimburse the State Goods and Services Tax (SGST) charged on tickets sold at cinemas and multiplexes. The move is intended to keep the tax from being passed on to audiences.
Directions for the reimbursement have been issued to the State Tax Department by Banshidhar Tiwari, who serves as Information Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Uttarakhand Film Development Council (UFDC).
The film has been written and directed by Vishal Chaturvedi.
Separately, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav met members of the film's team, which has drawn a positive response from viewers. In a post on X, Yadav shared a photograph from his meeting with actor Shobhinaw Satyaa, describing it as a warm and heartfelt interaction with the creator and artist behind 'Hanuman Ansh'.
Earlier, the film's team, including Chaturvedi and Satyaa, met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow.
