
Hapur Man Held for Acid Attack on Ex-Fiancee and Sister After Wedding Called Off
A man in Hapur, UP, allegedly threw acid on his ex-fiancee and her sister after the wedding was called off over his alleged drug addiction. He was caught by the family and handed to police.
A man in Uttar Pradesh's Hapur district has been arrested for allegedly throwing acid on his former fiancee and her sister, leaving both women seriously injured. The incident occurred on Saturday night after the victim's family called off the wedding.
The accused, identified as Harsh Bhati, a resident of Awas Vikas Colony in Hapur, was apprehended by the victims' family members at the scene and handed over to the police.
According to the victims' father, the marriage of his daughter had been fixed with Bhati. However, the family decided to break off the alliance after learning that he was allegedly addicted to drugs.
In their complaint, the family stated that Bhati arrived at the young woman's house on Saturday night carrying acid. When the door was opened, he allegedly threw the acid at his former fiancee. When her sister attempted to intervene, he allegedly threw acid on her as well.
Hearing the screams, family members rushed to the spot and managed to catch Bhati as he tried to flee. Personnel from the Simbhawali police station arrived at the location and took him into custody.
The two sisters were admitted to a hospital where they are currently undergoing treatment for their injuries. Circle Officer Rahul Yadav confirmed that a case has been registered based on the complaint filed by the victims' family, and the accused is being questioned.
