Harish Rao files criminal defamation case against two Congress leaders

BRS leader T. Harish Rao has moved a Hyderabad court seeking action against TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud and Government Whip Addanki Dayakar over remarks about his Kollur temple visit.

BRS Legislature Party Deputy Floor Leader T. Harish Rao has filed a criminal defamation complaint against TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud and Government Whip Addanki Dayakar, accusing them of making baseless and defamatory statements about his recent visit to a temple.

The complaint was filed through his lawyers before the Special Judicial First Class Magistrate Court for elected representatives at Nampally. It seeks action against the two Congress leaders under Section 356 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.

According to the complaint, video evidence and newspaper clippings of the alleged statements were submitted to the court on pen drives.

Mr. Rao visited the Kollur Mookambika Devi Temple in Karnataka last month with his family. The complaint states that he went as a Hindu and a devotee, as part of a spiritual trip.

The BRS leader alleged that Mr. Goud and Mr. Dayakar deliberately distorted the visit and claimed he had performed black magic rituals wishing that rains would not fall in Telangana. Those remarks, he said, were made at Gandhi Bhavan and later repeated through the media and on social media.
