Retired Army Man and Wife Found Hacked to Death in Hathras Home
Shamsuddin, 58, and his wife Saddo Begum, 55, were found dead with sharp-weapon injuries at their home near the Agra bypass in Hathras.
A retired Army personnel and his wife were found dead at their residence near the Agra bypass in Uttar Pradesh's Hathras district, with police suspecting they were attacked with a sharp-edged weapon.
The deceased were identified as Shamsuddin, 58, and his wife Saddo Begum, 55. Their bodies were discovered in a pool of blood at their house in the Sadabad Kotwali area.
According to the police, the killings are believed to have taken place during the night. The bodies came to light around 9:30 am on Sunday after the house remained shut and neighbours raised an alarm, following which the police were informed.
Superintendent of Police Chiranjeev Nath Sinha and Circle Officer Yogendra Krishna Narayan visited the spot along with police personnel and examined the scene. Forensic experts and a dog squad were also pressed into service to assist the probe.
"Prima facie, it appears that they were killed with a sharp-edged weapon. Necessary legal action is being taken," the SP said.
He added that the motive behind the killings was not immediately known and that five teams had been constituted to identify those responsible and work out the case.
Shamsuddin had retired from the Army about 20 years ago. Police said he had two wives and lived with them alternately. On Saturday night, he was staying with his first wife, Saddo Begum, at the house near the Agra bypass when the incident is believed to have occurred.
