Hema Malini envisions world-class stage for Braj art at new Vrindavan auditorium

Actor and BJP MP Hema Malini has welcomed the completion of the Swami Shri Haridas Auditorium in Vrindavan, Mathura, describing it as a venue that should serve as a world-class platform for Braj's art and culture.

Speaking about the facility, she noted that it offers more space for both audiences and performers compared with the temporary pandals that were previously used for programmes. She said she hoped artists from foreign countries would perform there and that the venue would provide a strong showcase for local traditions.

Malini also expressed interest in staging her own dance productions at the auditorium. She said she has several dance ballets, including five based on Krishna, and suggested that a multi-day Krishna Ras Festival could be organised there.

She indicated that efforts would be made to develop the venue further and attract international participation. Malini also spoke about plans for an institution to promote Braj's art, culture, and language, adding that financial support from the Ministry of Culture would help move the initiative forward.

On the growing global appeal of Indian festivals, Malini cited the example of the Jagannath Rath Yatra being celebrated in America and her recent attendance at ISKCON programmes there. She said Sanatan Dharma was spreading because it is inclusive and about moving forward together.

Extending greetings for Krishna Janmashtami, which falls on September 4 this year, Malini said the administration had made elaborate arrangements in Mathura, including a drone show depicting the story of Lord Krishna. She expressed some concern about crowds at temples during the festival but said she trusted the administration to manage the situation.
