Himanta Sarma Mourns Longtime Colleague Siddique Ahmed's Death

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed grief over the death of Siddique Ahmed, recalling his public service and their friendship across party lines.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has expressed deep grief over the death of Siddique Ahmed, a longtime colleague and former minister, describing the loss as a personal one and a blow to public life in the state.

In a post on X, Sarma said he was deeply pained by Ahmed's passing. He recalled that as a legislator, Ahmed consistently placed the welfare of his constituents first, and that as a minister he ran his assigned department with a high degree of professionalism.

Beyond their official roles, the Chief Minister spoke of the personal bond the two shared despite belonging to different political parties. He described Ahmed as a compassionate individual who placed great value on relationships.

Sarma extended his condolences to Ahmed's wife, Anima, and to the wider family. He said the death had created a void in the social life of Sribhumi as well as in Assam's administrative circles.

The remarks underscore a career remembered by the Chief Minister for its emphasis on public service and for a working relationship that endured across political divides.
