House Democrats Pour $6 Million More Into Cleveland Race as Miller Refuses to Quit
House Majority PAC adds $6M to Cleveland ad buys after Rep. Max Miller stays in race despite abuse probe.
A super PAC aligned with House Democrats is escalating its advertising push in the Cleveland area, adding roughly $6 million in new reservations on Friday. The move by House Majority PAC brings its total planned spending in the region to about $7 million, according to an announcement from the group.
The increased investment comes after Republican Rep. Max Miller confirmed he will remain in the race, ignoring calls from within his own party to step aside. Miller's decision follows renewed allegations of abuse from his ex-wife, Emily Moreno, and an investigation opened last week by the House Ethics Committee.
Miller, who has denied the claims, also spoke with President Donald Trump last week. Trump did not urge him to exit the race but acknowledged the political difficulty ahead. The deadline for Miller to withdraw passed on Monday.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has also moved Democratic challenger Brian Poindexter onto its list of priority candidates this week, signaling a serious push to flip the seat.
Trump carried Ohio's 7th District by 11 points in 2024, but Democrats see the suburban Cleveland and rural northeast Ohio district as competitive in light of the allegations. Miller has pledged to inject $1 million of his own money into his campaign.
The National Republican Congressional Committee confirmed Friday that it will back Miller's reelection effort.
