New video footage has revealed the extent of damage at Yemen's Mokha port following a Houthi rebel attack that killed seven people and wounded 30 others. The footage, released by a television station affiliated with the government-allied National Resistance Forces, shows damaged boats, flooded vessels, and debris-strewn warehouses within the port complex.
The attack on Sunday targeted the Red Sea port town, which is controlled by government forces. Yemen's Defense Ministry, operating under the internationally recognized government, confirmed that four military personnel and three civilians were among the dead.
The strike on Mokha is part of one of the largest waves of Houthi attacks on Yemeni military positions and Saudi-backed government-held areas since a truce was established in 2022.
The incident comes amid renewed concerns over shipping security in the region. With the Strait of Hormuz largely off-limits to traffic, some vessels have shifted toward the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, making the area a critical maritime chokepoint.
