Houthis Release Video Claiming Attacks on Saudi-Backed Forces in Jawf
Houthi rebels released video they say shows attacks on Saudi-backed forces in Yemen's eastern Jawf province, amid a widening escalation with the Saudi-led coalition.
Iran-backed Houthi rebels have released a video they describe as showing attacks on Saudi-backed forces in eastern Jawf province, Yemen.
The footage, broadcast by the group's media arm, the Ansar Allah Media Office, includes scenes of explosions and rising smoke, what the rebels identified as Saudi-backed forces on the move, a burning truck, and a damaged drone. Fighters are also shown firing from armored vehicles. The video carries audio of fighters speaking in Arabic, including slogans and chants.
The material was posted on Wednesday, 9 September 2026. The dates, locations and conditions under which the footage was shot could not be independently verified.
The release comes as the Houthis said Saudi-backed forces had launched dozens of airstrikes overnight across four Yemeni provinces. That reported wave followed rebel attacks on Saudi Arabia that ignited fires at several oil facilities and wounded dozens of people.
The current escalation began in July, when the Houthis attempted to fly a plane from Tehran, Iran's capital, to Sanaa, the rebel-controlled Yemeni capital, challenging a decade-long air and naval blockade imposed by the coalition. The coalition struck the runway in Sanaa, preventing the flight from landing; it landed in a different city instead.
Since then, the Houthis have targeted Saudi Arabia and attacked Saudi shipping in the Red Sea. The renewed hostilities have shattered a four-year truce that had largely halted fighting in the civil war.
