Houthis Release Footage of Downed Drone in Yemen's Hajjah Province

Yemen's Houthi rebels have released footage of what they describe as the wreckage of a reconnaissance drone operated by Saudi-backed forces and brought down over Hajjah province.

The video, broadcast by the group's media arm, shows men gathered around the debris. Labels on the wreckage include the words "Made in TURKIYE" and a marking reading "UL Power Aero Engines," along with serial numbers and other identifying details. The Houthis identified the aircraft as a Karayel drone. In an audio clip accompanying the footage, an unidentified man says the engine belonged to an aircraft downed in Hajjah province on Yemen's coast.

The claims, including the date, location and circumstances of the footage, could not be independently verified.

The drone footage emerged alongside competing accounts of a separate strike in Taiz. A spokesman for the Houthi-run health ministry said the attack hit shops in a market at the Mawiya intersection in the Taiziyah district, wounding at least 40 people, among them five children. No further details were provided.

Yemen's internationally recognized government rejected the Houthi account. Its military said it struck Houthi "warehouses and positions" in the area as part of a broader wave of attacks across the province, targeting military supplies in northern, southern and western Taiz. The military said the strikes left "dozens of dead and wounded" among the Houthis.

The violence comes amid intense fighting on Yemen's western coast, where government forces are attempting to roll back Houthi gains along the Red Sea. Earlier this month, the Houthis routed government forces and seized control of the country's strategic western coastline.
