Huawei Faces US Criminal Trial Over Theft and Sanctions Charges

The world's largest supplier of telecommunications network equipment, China's Huawei Technologies, is set to face a criminal trial in a United States federal court in Brooklyn, New York. Opening statements in the case are expected to begin on Wednesday.
US prosecutors have levelled charges against the company, accusing it of stealing technology and trade secrets. Additionally, authorities claim Huawei installed surveillance equipment that allegedly enabled Iran to spy on protesters, and that the company violated US sanctions imposed on North Korea.
Huawei has firmly denied all allegations brought against it. In response to the legal proceedings, Chinese officials have characterised the US actions as "economic bullying," asserting that Washington has improperly used national security concerns as a pretext for oppressing Chinese companies.
The trial marks a significant escalation in the ongoing legal and geopolitical tensions between the two nations over technology dominance and security policy.
