Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Future City police ramp up Ganesh Chaturthi arrangements

Police in Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Future City have intensified preparations for the upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations and immersion processions, with a focus on traffic regulation, public transport, safety measures and coordination with organisers.

In Hyderabad, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) D. Joel Davis held separate review meetings with senior traffic officers and Telangana State Road Transport Corporation officials on Thursday. The discussions centred on keeping vehicles and pedestrians moving smoothly along procession and immersion routes, major junctions and other sensitive locations. TGSRTC was asked to stay in continuous touch with the traffic police, run buses efficiently and alter routes where diversions are in place during immersions.

Special arrangements are being made for devotees visiting the Khairatabad Ganesh. Officers have been instructed to ensure sufficient manpower, barricading, signage, temporary toilets, parking and public address systems. Drones will monitor key procession routes, and bandobust staffing and VIP movement plans are also under review.

In Cyberabad, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Sunpreet Singh inspected immersion arrangements at IDL Lake in Kukatpally on Thursday, covering the lake entrance, Rainbow Vista T-Junction and Rangadhamuni Temple U-Turn. He directed officials to keep traffic moving wherever possible, with diversions towards JNTU and Moosapet to be used when idol movement is heavy. Seven cranes have been arranged at IDL Lake, two of them for idols taller than 20 feet, while HYDRAA will provide swimmers. At Kaithalapur Signal, Mr. Singh reviewed evening peak-hour congestion and asked officials to study the feasibility of automatic number plate recognition cameras for vehicle counting and traffic analysis.

In Future City, police have begun direct engagement with pandal organisers and local representatives. A coordination meeting with organisers and village elders was held at Devaki Garden Function Hall in Talakondapally on Thursday. Organisers were advised to secure permissions online and ensure proper electrical wiring and fire-safety measures at pandals. They were also asked to maintain discipline, avoid inconvenience to the public and traffic, follow noise regulations and preserve communal harmony. Immersion processions must stick to designated routes with adequate safety precautions, and organisers were told to stay in close contact with police and report any suspicious activity or untoward incident immediately.

At Kothur, DCP Shadnagar Ch. Sirisha had earlier addressed a peace committee meeting with pandal organisers and reviewed celebration arrangements. She stressed public safety, discipline, proper wiring, fire safety, adequate lighting and the deployment of responsible volunteers at pandals.

Across the three commissionerates, police have underlined the need for sustained coordination with organisers and civic agencies as festival and immersion preparations gather pace.
