Hyderabad dairy unit's licence suspended after TG SAFE finds hygiene violations
TG SAFE's food wing suspended the licence of a Karmanghat dairy unit after an inspection found unhygienic premises, pest issues and missing testing records.
A dairy establishment in Hyderabad has been closed and its food licence suspended after a special enforcement drive by the food wing of the Telangana Standards Authority for Food and Essential Drugs (TG SAFE) turned up a series of hygiene and sanitation failures.
The drive, conducted on Tuesday, covered dairy units and distributor points across the city. Officials found M/s Sapthagiri Foods in Karmanghat operating without a valid licence, besides maintaining unhygienic premises.
According to the inspection findings, the unit's flooring was uneven and had developed moss growth, while drainage facilities were inadequate. Houseflies were present in large numbers, with no proper pest control measures in place, and garbage had accumulated at several spots on the premises.
The team also found that records relating to the testing of water and milk were not available. Officials further noted inadequate hygiene among the food handlers at the unit.
Citing improper handling and processing of dairy products under unhygienic conditions, the authorities suspended the unit's food licence.
