Hyderabad Deploys 20,000 Police for Ganesh Immersion, Inspects 19-km Route

Hyderabad is gearing up for the Ganesh idol immersion procession with a deployment of around 20,000 police personnel across the city. On Tuesday, City Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar led a joint inspection of the 19-km route stretching from Balapur to Tank Bund to assess arrangements for the smooth and safe movement of idols.

Senior officials from the police, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA), the Roads and Buildings Department and other line departments joined the inspection. The team travelled by a special bus from the Balapur Ganesh pandal, passing through Chandrayangutta, Falaknuma, Charminar and M.J. Market before heading towards the Telangana Thalli Flyover.

Stops were made at key points, including Rajesh Medical Hall, Gulzar Houz, M.J. Market Junction and Telugu Thalli Junction, where officials examined road conditions, overhead clearances and height restrictions along the route.

The entire procession will be monitored continuously through CCTV cameras from the Telangana Integrated Command Control Centre. Quick Response Teams, dog squads, anti-chain-snatching teams and SHE Teams will be stationed at strategic locations to prevent untoward incidents and safeguard devotees and the general public.

Speaking to the media after the inspection, Mr. Sajjanar appreciated the cooperation extended by the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi and local organisers to the government and police over the years. He said coordination meetings with various departments had been held over the past month to streamline arrangements.

Senior officials from GHMC, HMDA, TRANSCO, R&B, HMWSSB, RTA and the Health Department will be stationed round-the-clock at the Telangana State Integrated Command and Control Centre on immersion day to coordinate operations.

The Commissioner directed zonal officers to closely monitor their respective areas and ensure that idols from various pandals leave for immersion on time. Noting that rains continue in the city, he urged pandal organisers to strictly follow safety guidelines and take precautions against electrical hazards.

Mr. Sajjanar appealed to devotees, citizens and festival organisers to cooperate with the police and other departments so that the procession concludes peacefully and without any untoward incidents.
