Hyderabad Police Arrest 23-Year-Old for Posing as Doctor at Golconda Clinic
Hyderabad Task Force and Golconda police arrested Mohd. Adnan, 23, for treating patients without medical qualifications at a Golconda care centre; his mother and brother are absconding.
A 23-year-old man has been arrested in Hyderabad for allegedly impersonating a qualified doctor and treating patients without the necessary medical qualifications or licences, police said.
Mohd. Adnan, a resident of Kumarwadi in Dhankota, was apprehended by the Hyderabad Task Force along with Golconda police during a raid on Hikma Sehath Care Centre at Mohalla Gunj. The clinic, police said, was being run with the help of his mother, Saba Khan alias Mohammadi Begum, and his brother, Mohd. Faizan. Both are currently absconding.
Investigators said Adnan completed Intermediate with CEC subjects between 2018 and 2020 and holds no recognised medical qualification. At the care centre, he was treating patients for a range of complaints, including sexual health issues, breathing difficulty, chest pain, repeated vomiting, severe body pain, kidney and flank pain, and urinary problems. Police said Adnan and his family claimed to be practising as ancestral hakeems.
Adnan began working at Hikma Health Care in 2023 alongside a BUMS-qualified Unani doctor, Munarwa Begum. According to the police, Adnan, his mother and his brother entered into an arrangement with the doctor under which she was paid ₹13,000 a month to visit the clinic occasionally.
During the raid, officers seized a large quantity of unlabelled medicines and powders, many marked only with handwritten codes. The haul included 20 one-kilogram packets of a powder identified as 'Talbina', along with several other bottles. Police also seized prescription books bearing the name Hikma Health Care and five books linked to a Facebook page titled 'Dr. Adnan Official'.
A case has been registered at Golconda police station under Sections 318(4) and 125 read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
