32 Hyderabad pubs face action over lapsed fire NOCs
Telangana Fire Services found 32 of 77 Hyderabad pubs non-compliant on fire NOCs or safety norms; notices issued.
An enforcement drive by the Telangana Fire Services has found significant fire safety lapses among pubs operating in Hyderabad. Of the 77 establishments inspected, 32 were found to be either functioning without a valid Fire No Objection Certificate (NOC) or with deficiencies in their fire safety arrangements.
The remaining 45 venues were found to have valid Fire NOCs. The department has issued notices to all 32 non-compliant establishments, directing them to address the shortcomings within a specified period. Failure to comply will invite legal proceedings under the Telangana Fire Service Act.
Following the inspections, the department organised a fire safety awareness session for pub owners and their representatives at the Engineering Staff College of India (ESCI) in Gachibowli. Director General of Fire Services Vikram Singh Mann addressed the gathering, underscoring that fire safety cannot be treated as optional at public entertainment venues. He stressed that accident prevention, emergency preparedness, and strict adherence to regulations are vital for safeguarding both lives and property.
The department has indicated that awareness drives, inspections, and enforcement measures will continue across the state to reinforce fire safety standards at public assembly occupancies.
