Hyderabad Traffic Police register seven cases in crackdown on fake number plates
Hyderabad Traffic Police filed seven criminal cases in a week against vehicles with fake or tampered number plates, seizing multiple vehicles.
The Hyderabad Traffic Police have intensified their enforcement against vehicles using fraudulent registration plates, registering seven criminal cases in the past week. The cases were filed at police stations including RGI Airport, Kanchanbagh, Khairatabad, Osmania University, Jubilee Hills, Maheshwaram, and Adilabad-1 Town, with several vehicles seized during the operation.
The violations centre on the use of fake, tampered, or unauthorised number plates, which authorities say are often employed to conceal a vehicle's identity or evade traffic enforcement. The traffic police have reiterated that only government-approved High-Security Registration Plates (HSRP) are legally permitted. Custom alterations, missing digits, and temporary stickers on plates are all considered illegal.
The department has warned that using manipulated registration plates can lead to criminal prosecution and the immediate impoundment of the vehicle. Officials stated that such drives will continue across the city to ensure compliance with registration norms, enhance road safety, and prevent vehicles from being misused to bypass enforcement measures.
