Hyderabad techie attempts suicide at Andhra police outpost over alleged fraud, inaction

A 25-year-old software engineer from Hyderabad allegedly attempted to end her life by consuming pesticide at a police outpost in Angallu village, near Madanapalle in Annamayya district, on Monday morning. She was rushed to the Government District Hospital in Madanapalle by locals, where doctors said she was stable and under observation.

The woman, a resident of Rampalli in Hyderabad, told police that she had been in contact with a man named Naresh from Sriramulapalle village in Kurabalakota mandal for about two years. They had connected through a matrimony platform, where Naresh reportedly claimed to be a Telugu television actor and promised to marry her.

According to her account, Naresh subsequently took ₹40 lakh from her and stopped answering her calls. She said she had lodged multiple complaints with the Mudivedu police in Annamayya district, but no action was taken. Distressed by the alleged inaction, she consumed pesticide at the outpost on Monday.

A police officer in Madanapalle said the case would be verified. Authorities have urged those in distress to seek help through the police helpline 100 or the Tele-MANAS mental health support line at 14416.
