HYDRAA reclaims 7,200 sq yards of public land in Medchal-Malkajgiri, shields Saki lake
HYDRAA protected 7,200 square yards of public-purpose land in Kundanpally and fenced a one-kilometre stretch of Saki lake in Patancheru.
The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) on Tuesday reclaimed 7,200 square yards of land reserved for public use in TPS Chamundipatnam Colony, located in Kundanpally village of Keesara mandal, Medchal-Malkajgiri district.
The layout, laid out in 1983, had set aside 6,000 square yards for a park and 600 square yards each at two sites — a total of 1,200 square yards — for market places. According to HYDRAA, attempts had been made to take over the entire 7,200 square yards by erecting precast walls around the parcels and bringing them under private control.
The Chamundipatnam Colony Cultural and Welfare Association brought the matter to the agency's attention through its Prajavani programme. Acting on the complaint, HYDRAA officials, along with municipal and revenue staff, carried out a field inspection and confirmed that the land was earmarked for public purposes.
The encroachments were cleared on Tuesday. Sign boards were put up and the parcels were fenced.
In a separate operation the same day, HYDRAA moved to protect Saki lake in Patancheru, Sangareddy district, from encroachment. On one side of the lake, the full tank level was being filled with truckloads of mud.
Following a request from Irrigation officials, the agency erected fencing along a one-kilometre stretch of the lake.
