IAF Successfully Tests Indigenous Long-Range Glide Bomb Khagantak-243

The Indian Air Force conducted a successful drop trial of the indigenously developed Long Range Glide Bomb Khagantak-243, meeting all test objectives.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) has achieved a significant milestone in its quest for self-reliance in defence technology with the successful drop trial of the indigenously designed and developed Long Range Glide Bomb (LRGB), named Khagantak-243.

The trial, announced by the IAF on social media, was described as a demonstration of "precision, power, and pride." The force stated that the test met all its objectives, marking a new peak in lethality achieved through the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

Khagantak-243 is a long-range glide bomb designed to allow combat aircraft to strike targets from stand-off distances, keeping the launching platform outside the reach of many enemy air defence systems. This capability enhances the survivability of pilots while extending the reach of precision strikes.

The successful trial is expected to give a major boost to Indian industry's efforts in developing long-range air-to-ground precision weapons. It also reinforces the government's sustained push, along with the armed forces, to reduce dependence on imported systems and promote indigenous design, development, and manufacturing of advanced defence technologies.

This achievement underscores India's growing capability to produce cutting-edge weaponry domestically, aligning with the broader strategic goal of strengthening national defence through self-reliance.
