ICE Arrests Hit 49,571 in July, Highest Monthly Tally of Trump's Second Term

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) recorded nearly 50,000 arrests in July, marking the highest single-month total of President Donald Trump's second term, according to newly released figures.

The July tally of 49,571 represents a 15% increase from the 43,021 arrests logged in June and a 70% surge from the 29,241 arrests in February, which followed a major enforcement push in Minnesota. The data was compiled by ICE and shared with the University of California, Berkeley's Deportation Data Project.

The numbers indicate that the administration's mass deportation agenda remains active, even as its tactics have shifted. Earlier this year, ICE conducted highly visible operations in major cities that drew public criticism. More recently, enforcement has moved to less prominent settings, though the scale of arrests has not diminished.

For context, monthly immigration arrests stood at just over 8,000 in the period before Trump took office, with most of those involving immigrants transferred from local jails and prisons. During Trump's first year, arrests climbed as restrictions on where and whom ICE could target were loosened and the agency received billions in additional funding.

By December, monthly arrests had already reached 40,177, according to the data, which was obtained through a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit.
