INDIA Bloc to Meet Today on Poll Body Row, Plan Nationwide Agitation

The INDIA bloc is set to meet today to deliberate on its next course of action in the ongoing confrontation over the Chief Election Commissioner, with the opposition grouping expected to finalise a two-track strategy of street protests and parliamentary action.

According to the plan under discussion, the alliance will draw up a strategy to launch a nationwide agitation. Protests and public rallies against the Chief Election Commissioner are to be held across the country, aimed at mobilising public opinion and sustaining pressure on the poll body.

Alongside the mass mobilisation, the bloc will also pursue a parliamentary route. An impeachment motion against the Chief Election Commissioner is to be moved in Parliament, marking an escalation of the opposition's challenge to the poll panel's leadership.

The meeting is expected to settle the modalities of both strands — the timing and spread of the countrywide protests, and the political groundwork required for the impeachment move. The discussions will also focus on coordinating the alliance's messaging so that the agitation and the parliamentary initiative reinforce each other.
