India, China Hold 25th Round of Boundary Talks in Beijing
India and China held the 25th round of special representative talks on the boundary question in Beijing, focusing on border management and bilateral ties.
Beijing hosted the 25th round of talks between the special representatives of India and China on the boundary question on Tuesday. The meeting saw comprehensive and candid discussions on the border issue and the broader state of bilateral relations.
China's Special Representative Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, led the Chinese delegation. He emphasised that a stable and healthy relationship between the two nations serves the fundamental interests of both peoples and carries significant global and strategic weight.
Wang expressed China's readiness to work with India from a long-term, strategic perspective, aiming to foster good-neighbourly relations and partnerships that support each other's success. He referred to this vision as the "Dragon-Elephant Tango."
India's Special Representative and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval headed the Indian side. He conveyed India's willingness to enhance strategic communication with China, effectively manage the border areas, and explore solutions to the boundary question. He also expressed a desire to accelerate the improvement of India-China relations.
The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on advancing boundary negotiations, properly managing and controlling the border, strengthening institutional mechanisms, and promoting cross-border cooperation. Both reaffirmed their commitment to seeking a fair, reasonable, and mutually acceptable package solution to the boundary question, guided by the spirit of mutual respect and understanding.
They agreed to continue handling the matter through dialogue and consultation to maintain peace and tranquility in the border regions. The delegations also decided to hold the next round of talks in India in 2027.
