India, Pakistan Trade Sharp Words at UNGA Over Terrorism and Indus Waters

India and Pakistan exchanged sharp accusations at the United Nations General Assembly, with New Delhi warning that continued cross-border terrorism would carry consequences and Islamabad raising the Kashmir issue while cautioning against any attempt to divert its share of the Indus waters.

India described cross-border terrorism as a long-standing practice on Pakistan's part, signalling that such actions would not go unanswered. The remarks placed the issue of terrorism at the centre of India's message at the world body.

Pakistan, in its response, raised the Kashmir issue and issued a warning over the Indus waters, stating that any effort to divert its share would be treated as an act of war. The two positions underscored the continuing friction between the neighbours on security and water-sharing matters.
