IndiGo aircraft hits guidance pole while parking at Srinagar airport (2026-09-04)

An IndiGo aircraft arriving from Navi Mumbai struck a guidance pole while being parked at Srinagar airport on Friday morning, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) confirmed. No passengers or crew members were injured in the incident.

The aircraft, operating as flight 6E 225 (registration VT-NOG), was being manoeuvred into Bay No. 6 at approximately 9:02 a.m. when it came into contact with the Visual Docking Guidance System (VDGS) pole. The VDGS is a standard aid used to guide pilots into parking positions.

Following the collision, passengers and crew deboarded safely using manual aircraft stairs, the AAI said in a statement. The authority added that all individuals on board were safe and that no injuries had been reported.

The AAI stated that the circumstances leading to the incident would be examined by the appropriate authorities under prescribed procedures. It clarified that no conclusion regarding the cause would be drawn until the inquiry is completed.

Despite the incident, airport operations continued normally, with scheduled arrivals and departures proceeding as planned, the AAI added.
