IndiGo Lucknow-Dammam flight diverted to Ahmedabad after 'bomb' note found on board

An IndiGo flight travelling from Lucknow to Dammam in Saudi Arabia made an emergency landing at Ahmedabad airport on 10 September after a note bearing the word "bomb" was found on board.

The aircraft, operating as flight 6E97, touched down at around 5:55 pm carrying 133 people, including crew members. All those on board were safely taken off the plane.

According to Airport police inspector A D Chavda, a crew member discovered the word written on a piece of paper during the flight, prompting the emergency landing. He said the flight was carrying 107 passengers and six crew members, who were made to disembark.

Airport security personnel, fire teams and bomb squad officials joined the investigation, and the local police along with the CIS carried out a search of the aircraft. Nothing suspicious was found, officials said.

As part of the probe, passengers were reportedly asked to write on tissue paper so that their handwriting could be compared with the writing on the suspicious note.

Officials have not yet confirmed the exact circumstances behind the incident. The landing marked the second emergency landing at Ahmedabad airport within ten days.
