IndiGo Lucknow-Dammam flight makes emergency landing in Ahmedabad after bomb threat

An IndiGo flight travelling from Lucknow to Dammam in Saudi Arabia made an emergency landing at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Ahmedabad Airport on Thursday evening after a bomb threat was discovered on board, police said.

Flight 6E97 touched down at 5:45 p.m., an official said, adding that all passengers and crew members were brought out of the aircraft safely.

According to Airport police inspector A.D. Chavda, a crew member found the word "bomb" written on a piece of paper during the journey, prompting the emergency landing. The aircraft was carrying 107 passengers and six crew members, all of whom were made to disembark.

Local police and the Central Industrial Security Force were conducting a search of the plane. Officials said nothing suspicious had been found on board so far.

The incident comes days after an Air India Express flight from Dammam to New Delhi, carrying 32 passengers, made an emergency landing at the Ahmedabad airport on August 31. In that case, a crew member had found a tissue paper bearing a message claiming a bomb was on board. The threat later turned out to be a hoax.
