IndiGo Flight from Lucknow to Dammam Diverted to Ahmedabad After Bomb Threat

An IndiGo flight travelling from Lucknow to Dammam in Saudi Arabia was diverted to Ahmedabad on Thursday evening after a bomb threat was discovered on board, police said. The aircraft, operating as flight 6E97, touched down at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Ahmedabad Airport at 5:45 pm, according to an airport official.

All 107 passengers and six crew members were safely disembarked, the official added.

According to Airport police inspector A D Chavda, the alert was triggered after a crew member came across a piece of paper with the word "bomb" written on it. The discovery prompted the emergency landing at Ahmedabad.

Following the landing, local police and personnel from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) carried out a search of the aircraft. Officials said nothing suspicious had been found on board so far.

The incident comes close on the heels of a similar scare on August 31, when an Air India Express flight from Dammam to New Delhi with 32 passengers on board made an emergency landing at the same airport. In that case, a crew member had found a tissue paper bearing a message claiming a bomb was on board. The threat later turned out to be a hoax.
