Foundation laid for Indiramma housing towers in Nampally, beneficiaries to inspect construction

Telangana Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy laid the foundation stone for the Indiramma Housing towers at Red Hills in Nampally on Tuesday, marking the start of construction under the state's affordable housing pilot in the Core Urban Region (CURE).

Four towers will be built on five acres at the site. Each tower will have a ground floor plus ten upper floors, with twelve flats on every floor.

Speaking after the ceremony, the Minister said beneficiaries of the flats would be allowed to inspect the quality of construction of the proposed apartments. He also assured that the buildings would be completed and the keys handed over to allottees within a year.

Nampally is among 16 Assembly constituencies in CURE where the government is taking up such housing towers on a pilot basis. Land has been identified in 20 constituencies, and the tender process has been completed in at least 16 of them. The Minister said contractors are ready to begin work.

Each flat will have a carpet area of 400 sq ft and a built-up area of 528 sq ft. The government provides a subsidy of ₹5 lakh per flat, while each beneficiary contributes ₹6 lakh in four instalments.

Draws of lots were held in the last week of the previous month to select beneficiaries and those on the waiting list. A second round of lots was conducted after the foundation stone was laid, to allot flat numbers to Nampally beneficiaries who had paid the first instalment of ₹1 lakh. State Housing Board Vice Chairman V.P. Gautham said final allotment letters would also be handed over to them.

The Minister added that the Housing Department would take responsibility for connecting the towers' sewage lines to the main line.

Minorities Affairs Minister Mohd Azharuddin, MP Anil Kumar Yadav, Nampally MLA Majid Hussain, Hyderabad Collector Priyanka Ala and others attended the event.
