Indore Metro's Second Priority Corridor Opens, Expanding Network to 17 km
Indore Metro's Priority Corridor-2 opens, adding 11 km and 11 stations, taking the network to 16 stations across 17 km.
Indore's urban transit system took a major step forward with the inauguration of the Indore Metro Priority Corridor–2. Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal officially opened the new section in the presence of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Tokhan Sahu.
The newly commissioned Phase-I (Reach-II) spans approximately 11 kilometres and includes 11 stations, running from Super Corridor-3 to Malviya Nagar Chauraha. The project was developed at an estimated cost of ₹2,850 crore.
With this addition, the Indore Metro network now operates 16 stations covering roughly 17 kilometres. The cumulative investment in the operational network stands at about ₹4,370 crore.
Speaking at the event, Manohar Lal highlighted the broader impact of the metro system, describing it as more than a transport project. He noted that it serves as a catalyst for economic growth, urban transformation, and social inclusion. The minister also pointed to the environmental and congestion-relief benefits of increased public transport usage, including lower fuel consumption and reduced emissions.
He extended congratulations to the Madhya Pradesh government, Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited, and all officials, engineers, and workers involved in bringing the corridor to fruition.
