Indore Woman Stabs Sister-in-Law Over Rakhi Remark, Dumps Body in Tank

A woman in Madhya Pradesh's Indore has been arrested for allegedly stabbing her sister-in-law to death following a heated argument on Raksha Bandhan. The accused, identified as Parvati Bai Kushwah, reportedly attacked the victim after she made a disparaging comment about Kushwah's brother.

The victim, Vandana, had recently married Upendra in a temple ceremony on August 11, a union that was opposed by both families. Due to this friction, the couple had chosen to live separately in a rented accommodation.

The dispute is said to have originated from a remark Vandana made about Kushwah's brother, who is currently in jail in Damoh on a rape charge. The comment enraged Kushwah, leading to an escalation that turned fatal.

Police investigations revealed that at the time of the incident, Kushwah's children were at school and her husband was hospitalised. Taking advantage of the situation, she allegedly stabbed Vandana twice in the neck with a knife. She then dragged the body out of the house and disposed of it in a water tank located outside.

After committing the act, Kushwah reportedly visited her husband at the hospital, attempting to maintain a semblance of normalcy. When family members discovered Vandana missing, they alerted the authorities.

Police scanned CCTV footage from cameras in the locality, which helped them zero in on the accused. Initially, Kushwah attempted to mislead investigators, but she broke down during interrogation. The turning point came when police informed her that fingerprints had been recovered from the murder weapon, leaving her with no chance of escape. She subsequently confessed to the crime.
