INS Sudarshini Departs Livorno After Successful Port Call on Lokayan 2026

The Indian Navy's sail training ship, INS Sudarshini, departed Livorno, Italy, on 12 September 2026, concluding a port call that saw a series of professional interactions and cross-training visits aimed at reinforcing friendship and maritime partnership between India and Italy.
During the visit, Admiral Giuseppe Berutti Bergotto, Chief of the Italian Navy, came aboard INS Sudarshini and met with the ship's crew and trainees. He received a briefing on the vessel's ongoing voyage and its training activities. The Commanding Officer of INS Sudarshini also called on Rear Admiral Alberto Tarabotto, Commandant of the Italian Naval Academy, to exchange experiences from the current expedition. Separate interactions took place with Luca Salvetti, Mayor of Livorno, and Edoardo Lombardi, Vice Prefect of Livorno.
As part of the training exchanges, Indian sea trainees visited the Italian frigate ITS Virginio Fasan and the Italian Naval Academy, while Italian naval personnel toured INS Sudarshini. The reciprocal visits were intended to foster professional cooperation and mutual understanding between the two navies.
A deck reception hosted on board was attended by senior Italian naval officers, local authorities, diplomatic representatives and other distinguished guests.
