Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held separate meetings with his Saudi and Indian counterparts in New York on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly, as diplomatic activity continues around the conflict between Iran and the United States.
Araghchi met Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, with video showing the two encounters.
The discussions took place as Tehran has put forward a proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and resume talks on its nuclear programme within seven days, contingent on the United States lifting its naval blockade, waiving oil sanctions and observing a ceasefire that includes Lebanon.
Araghchi set out the details of the proposal at a private gathering on the sidelines of the General Assembly on Thursday.
The offer comes amid continued disruption around the Strait of Hormuz, a vital shipping corridor, while fighting between Iran and the United States persists.
The war and attacks around regional shipping lanes have unsettled international trade and increased pressure on alternative routes, including the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
