Iran's Revolutionary Guards Corps Navy has declared that it exercises 'full control' over the Strait of Hormuz, directly contradicting recent statements from Washington that the vital shipping lane remains open.

In an official statement, the Guards rejected the US position as a manoeuvre aimed at influencing global oil prices and masking what Tehran describes as American failures in the region. The statement asserted that the current restrictions on the strait will remain in force until US military actions against Iran cease and certain commitments are fulfilled.

The Strait of Hormuz, a narrow waterway connecting the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman, is a critical chokepoint for global energy supplies. Roughly a fifth of the world's oil passes through it, making any disruption a significant concern for international markets.

The Guards' statement signals a hardening of Iran's stance, framing the dispute not merely as a tactical issue but as a broader confrontation with US policy in the region.
